Listening: If I don't know much about the lecture topic (Section 4), does that mean I can't do well in this section ?; No. You don't need specialist knowledge of the topic. You should be able to answer the questions as it is not testing your knowledge - just your language.
Speaking: I feel uncomfortable speaking about personal things in Part I, so is it ok to give brief answers ?; No. You should be prepared to provide full answers to the questions as it will affect your fluency mark.
Reading: I can't skim very well as I read too slowly. Should I avoid skimming the article ?; No. Skimming is very useful as it will help you locate the answers more quickly. If you can't skim quickly, then try reading the first and last sentence of the paragraph, as this is often where the main idea is either introduced or summarised.
Writing: In Task 1 Academic, should I put an overview at the start of the response ?; No. If you use it in your conclusion, it is a good way to round off what you have written.
